CCN Partners with NIGCOMSAT, GiCELL to deliver Smart Grid technology 

The collaboration between CCN, GiCell and NigComSat is derived from the Public Private Partnership Initiative of the Nigerian Government. Under this initiative, the three Companies established a Special Purpose Vehicle known as People's Network Limited (PNL) with the sole objective of converting Nigeria’s aging power grid into a Smart Grid while also offering broadband to the Nigerian people at affordable prices.

In November 2009, PNL signed a MOU with Nigeria's owners of the National Grid –Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), a wholly owned company of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The MOU among other things expanded the ownership of PNL to include TCN in furtherance of the need for effective collaboration in the delivery of smart grid solutions in Nigeria
